The Google Analytics Demo Account is a Game-Changer [Bullet-Point Format]
- The topic of this post is a bit late—I intended to publish this several weeks ago.
- Today we’re talking about the Google Analytics Demo Account: what is it, how to access it, and why it’s a game-changer for analytical marketers.
- Also, I thought we’d trying something new today—a bullet-points only post. Bullet-point lists are not only easy to read, but they’re also easy to write. In fact, I try to do all my writings in bullet-point format—emails, to-do lists, and meeting notes to name a few examples. If the bullet-point format is easier to read and easier to write, why not write entire posts in bullet-point format? So, here’s today’s post on the new Google Analytics demo account in bullet-point format.
- Even with an abundance of educational resources available, it’s been difficult to gain practical experience with Google Analytics since not everyone has access to a fully-implemented Google Analytics account. That is, until now. With the introduction of Google Analytics Demo Account, everyone has access to a fully-functional Google Analytics account. (Access the demo account here).
- In my short time using the Demo account, I can genuinely say that it’s a game-changer. That’s not hyperbole or exaggeration. The demo account lets companies and marketing teams see all the additional data and reports that come with a fully-functional Google Analytics account.
- Using the demo account, you’ll gain a better and clearer understanding of who your customer is and isn’t, your most profitable channels, and the most common paths that turn visitors into customers.
- For example, you can use it as a tool to see how to correctly configure a fully-functional Google Analytics account, complete with Goals, Events, and Attribution conversion reports. You can read the excellent post to learn about all the real-world use cases on the Google Analytics Blog—they do a better job describing its value than I can.
- What I can offer, though, is validation. The demo account is all it’s cracked up to be. Take it from me—we use Google Analytics every day with our clients at Zeffective.
- It can be a challenge to communicate the value that the client will gain from a proposed change to their Google Analytics account. After all, they have to pay us to make the changes but then they have to wait several weeks or months for the minimum volume of data needed to produce accurate reports and reliable information.
- Up to this point, we’ve had to rely on our ability to use words to describe the look of a graphical report and how the additional information will help them make better, faster decisions to reach their goals. It was like trying to explain blue to a blind man.
- Using the demo account these last few weeks, however, we’ve shown clients in real-time what the new reports will look like and how we’ll use it to render more valuable information. It’s drastically shortened the length of meetings—they say “yes” pretty quickly. And, although it’s still too early to know for certain, I also expect that it will reduce confusion once we have our first batch of reports—they know what they’re going to get before they agree.
- In short, the demo account offers everything that Google claims it does, and then some. Access it here to get started.
